Comparison
of Garmin Forerunner 201 / 301 and Garmin Forerunner 205 /
305 : The biggest
two differences are aesthetics and improved aerial technology.
The aesthetics are just different, not necessarily any better.
The new 305 does not fit the wrist any better than the 301,
in fact, on a smaller wrist the 305 is a bit too chunky across
the wrist. The aerial technology improvement in the 305 is
an improvement, however, if most of your running is fairly
rural, with good clear vision of the sky, then the Forerunner
301 is still a great option.. and considerably cheaper. The
PC software is the same. If most of your running is in town
or wooded areas, then we would suggest the Forerunner 305.

Who's it for - it's for the cyclist that wants to get from A to B and monitor their performance getting there. Full UK base map installed in the device. It knows where you are, you simply point it where you want to go - and it'll do the rest (OK - you still have to pedal). Full PC download with speed, distance, heart rate and altitude (from highly sensitive barometric sensor - not GPS) - plus mapping track of journey which can be viewed in supplied Training Centre software, or alternatively shared with others using Garmin Connect, or any of many GPS performance monitoring / tracking websites like www.gpsvisualizer.com.
